My research for God Save My Queen II has led me once again to the German word Doppelganger. In the napkin above, my friend Kathy attempts to give me all the possible variations of the word -- plural male, plural female (which I think I will use in the book, thus ensuring a footnote or shout-out in the dedicatory). The word will be used in the entry for the song "The Miracle," in which the Queen band members used body doubles in their video. They were children, actually, and I asked Kathy if there was a German word for "Mini Me." "Minidoppe" she attempts that in the upper-left-hand corner of this napkin. Doppelganger means "double goer," which is great -- Freddie's trademark admonishment to Brian, mid-solo, is "go, go, go!" and the fact it's a German word is very attractive, since this late Queen anthemic stuff sold like hotcakes in the former DDR.
